White & Cream Living Room

This gracious living room was transformed as part of a larger remodel. The design challenge was to transition the space from a dark, heavy Tuscan aesthetic to a brighter, lighter, and more refined transitional style. The exceptionally high ceilings and expansive walls demanded thoughtful planning and creative solutions to maintain balance and harmony while enhancing the room’s grandeur.

Project Overview:

The first steps in this project involved removing the architectural columns, traditional fireplace detail and dark faux finishes. From there we truly had a blank canvas to work with. We started by working with a local artist to custom design a series of canvases to complete the expansive blank wall. With just the right amount of glimmer, the tone for the space was set.

We complimented this focal point by specifying a much subtler, yet still contemporary and interesting, Venetian plaster on the fireplace wall and simple, sophisticated, edge-trimmed drapery on the window wall. The furniture and fabric selections highlighted texture and neutral patterns to support, and not distract from the artwork. A mirror over the fireplace allows the design double credit for the chandelier and artwork casting a repeat image regardless of which way you enter the room.
